End of year Celebrations....
Thursday afternoon was the end of year celebrations for Izandla Zetemba (The HIV Support Project) This involved all the different groups. Singing, dancing, poetry & giving thanks. Being Africa it was fun, noisy & slighlty chaotic at times. I had to drive to one of the local schools to collect some of the children. I went with Unathi who is responsible for all the work with he orphans & vulnerable children. I was driving a Toyota Condor which is an 8 seater 4WD. We got to the school about 2 miles from the church & there were loads of children there. We crammed as many children as we could into the car.......about 20!!!! This is not an unusual sight in the townships! We knew we'd have to do a second trip to collect the rest. As we left I said to Unathi.... "Just pray we don't see any police". As soon as we turned onto the main road lo & behold there was a police car! Thankfully they didn't see us & took the next turning on the left. Big sighs of relief all round! It's been a hectic week so planning some rest & relaxation for the next 2 days.
