The internet has been down here for a few days so apologies for the delay in writing. The camp at the weekend was for orphans & vulnerable children affected by HIV. We took 88 children to the camp. It was in the countryside about 50 miles from Cape Town. It was very much an adventure camp with loads of activities for the kids. Climbing, ropes, assault courses, water, trees & dirt! It was so good to see them enjoying themselves & the looks on their faces when they achieved things they didn't think were possible. Some of the children are HIV positive so we had quite a collection of ARV drugs. The children are taught to take responsibility for taking their medication & are very well informed. They know that it's vital for the tablets to be taken on time. I was amazed at how good they were at coming to remind us it was time for their tablets. The youngest was 6 years old & she was always on time. It was noisy, exhausting but great fun!
Things are beginning to wind down now for the Christmas break. We had our staff Christmas dinner last night. Roast beef! Sadly no yorkshire pudding!
