South Africans know how to party! Khanyisa Comunity Church celebrated it's 10th Birthday on Sunday. It started at 10 am & finished at 5.30 pm! It was a wonderful day, African choirs, drummers, dancing & giving thanks to God for the last ten years. It was a real privilege to be there.
Yesterday went down to Cape Point. This is right at the tip of Africa where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic. On the way back to the start of the footpath there was a rustling in the bushes & a baboon jumped out!! Apparently they are a real pest & will jump into parked cars to take food, cameras etc.
Today it was back to work. I was with the peer education group. This is for teenagers who want to train to support others in the community with HIV/Aids. They are interviewed before they are accepted on the programme. It was humbling to see how commited they are to studying & participating. All of these teenagers will have been effected in some way by HIV/Aids & yet they are so keen to help others. It was so good to see such positive action. Despite their circumstances these teenagers were like teenagers anywhere else. I asked the course faclitator how many of them would go on to run support groups & he replied "all of them."
To the team coming fom Kings Arms Church Torquay........ Look forward to seeing you on Thursday. It's a bit warmer here than it has been in the UK!
