This week has been hectic. Tuesday I was with the Peer Education Group. They were giving presentations on HIV/Aids. They were all excellent. They also had to do an "icebreaker." One group chose to do the one where you have to say 3 things about yourself, one of which is untrue. There were some very inventive ones...... "Jacob Zuma is my uncle!" "My Mum looks like Beyonce!" "I live in Constantia!" (This is the wealthiest suburb of Cape Town) "I designed the South Africa Football team shirts!"
Yesterday it was the Childrens group. About 70% of them aren't living with their parents, either because they are orphans or it's not safe fro them to be with them.
On Monday evening I visited a Halfway house for ex women offenders. It is run by a big church in Capetown called Jubilee. They provide accomadation for the women & help them to get back into normal life & employment. It was great to see these women being set free from their past & being given a second chance. Most of them were n work & so grateful for the support they had. Several of them had become Christians & were so aware of God's guidance.
Tomorrow I am going to visit an HIV clinic which is also run by Jubilee Church. The Doctor there sees newly diagnosed patients & follow ups. Looking forward to finding out more.
The South African Football team lost 1 -0 to the USA last night at the Green Point Stadium. The match was a fundariser for HIV/Aids. I was hoping to go but sadly all the tickets had gone!
